Ultem
Ultem (Polyetherimide) Product Guide
Applications | Mechanical Data
Overview
Ultem™ is a high-strength amorphous thermoplastic with excellent heat and flame resistance with minimal smoke output. Also, Ultem is hydrolysis resistant and highly resistant to acidic solutions. It has the ability to tolerate repeated autoclaving cycles and can perform continuously in temperatures up to 340°F. Furthermore, Ultem offers high dielectric strength, UV resistance, ease of thermoforming, gamma radiation resistant, and ease of machining. It is commonly used for medical instrument components, chip test sockets, electrical connectors, scientific equipment parts, and electrical insulation parts. Ultem™ is a trademark SABIC.
