1075 spring steel, aka 1075 blue tempered steel, has a higher carbon content than standard steel sheet, but less than 1095 spring steel, which means that 1075 steel sheet is softer, faster to sharpen, and easier to form than its close relative. This is beneficial because it eliminates the need to heat treat after forming as you would do with annealed spring steel, eliminating any distortion during that heat-treating process.
1075 spring steel's properties make it valuable in the production of clips, blades/knives, springs, coiled springs, washers, saw blades, trowels, scrapers, spring clamps, antennas, lock picks, and clock hands.
