Alloy Steel Hex Bar 4140/4142 Cold Finish, also referred to as Chromoly Steel, are known for strength, resistance to fracturing, abrasion, and impact in high stress applications. 4140 and 4142 are both popular for a wide range of applications and are mechanically extremely similar, both are ductile and easily machined in the annealed state. They are commonly used for gears, shafts, spindles, fixtures, bolts, valves, sprockets, pistons, and collars in various high-stress and heavy-duty applications.
